Kenneth Daugherty Obituary

Kenneth Jerome Daugherty, 89, of New London, originally from Renville, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Bethesda North Pointe in New London. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, at Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A private family burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Renville. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home in New London.

Born on February 18, 1935, in Renville, Minnesota, Kenneth was the son of Dale and Rose (Hinderks) Daugherty. He attended Renville Elementary School and graduated from Renville High School in 1953. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.  On November 17, 1962, he married Patricia Ann Allen at the Renville United Methodist Church. They shared a loving marriage until her passing on August 27, 2019.

After their marriage, Ken and Patricia lived in Renville where Ken worked at Coast to Coast and helped on the family farm. In 1976 he moved his family to the family farm and was self-employed as a farmer from 1976 until his retirement. In 1997, he moved to Menahga and later to New London in 2021. A devoted member of the Renville Methodist Church, he also served as an usher.

In addition to his faith and family, Kenneth enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, playing horseshoes, fishing, coin collecting, and watching sports on TV. He played town baseball in his youth and participated in bowling leagues.

Kenneth is survived by his son, Michael (Julie) Daugherty of New London; his daughter, Rosemarie (Todd) Tharaldson of St. Michael; granddaughters AnneMarie (Mike) Hall and Katherine (Melissa) Kuehn-Bao; and great-granddaughter Luna Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia, and his brother Eldon Daugherty.

Thank you so much for attending the service celebrating Ken’s life, and your thoughts, and prayers. All have meant a great deal to us during this difficult time. Please know that additional gifts are not necessary; your support is truly appreciated.
