LeEtta Kay (Chapman) Van Ort

April 9, 1946 ~ April 30, 2020 (age 74)


LeEtta Kay Van Ort, 74, of Willmar, died Thursday, April 30th at Carris Health Care Center and Therapy Suites.  A family interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Willmar with a memorial service to be held at a later date.  Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

LeEtta was born April 9, 1946, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Raymond and Anna (Douma) Chapman.  She grew up in Willmar, attended Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from Willmar High School in 1964.  On July 10, 1964, she was united in marriage to David Van Ort at First Reformed Church in Willmar.  Following their marriage, they lived in Bloomington and Shakopee before returning to Willmar.  Prior to retiring due to her health, LeEtta worked for Heartland Community Action as a pre-school/teacher’s aide.

She was a member of First Covenant Church where she enjoyed the Bible study.  LeEtta was an avid reader who also enjoyed visiting with friends.

Surviving are her husband, David, and daughters, Kimberly Ochocki and Kelly Peickert, both of Willmar; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  Also surviving is her sisters, Sherrilyn Chapman of Plains, MT and Mavis Muller of Little Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Sheldon and sister, Lorna Hahn.
