Lelan John Maki-Serbus

Lelan Maki-Serbus, 17, of Danube, died Monday August 24th at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. Lelan's visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm, Friday at Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home in Willmar with a funeral service starting at 7:00 pm. Lelan John Maki-Serbus was born on April 19, 2009, in Willmar, to Galen Serbus and Shanna Maki. He grew up in Danube and attended school at RCW through 2017. He later attended BOLD Schools and Southwest Youth Services before continuing his education online.

Lelan had a passion for cooking and dreamed of attending culinary school someday. He also enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, downhill skiing, going for walks, and gaming with his friends. Above all, Lelan cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

Lelan will be remembered for the love he shared with those around him. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who brought joy and special memories to the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Lelan is survived by his parents: Shanna (Jason) Moe and Galen Serbus; siblings: Cody Maki, Sheyenne Maki, Nathan Serbus, Jesse Maki, Mackenzie Serbus, Zowie Serbus, and Brooklyn Smith; nephews: Elijah, Jaylen, Lincoln, Prince and Kaiser. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and other friends and family.

He was preceded in death by grandparents: Linda Lewis and Richard and Nina Serbus; great grandparents: John and Martha Maki, Joseph and Lillian Serbus, and Frank and Mable Lang; uncle, Todd Serbus; niece, Seraphina Serbus.
