Leon Darryl Peterson

Leon D. Peterson, 73, of Hawick, died Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Koronis Manor in Paynesville.  Memorial services will be 3:00 pm Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Nordland Lutheran Church near Paynesville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville.

Leon Darryl Peterson was born on June 12, 1947, in Paynesville, the son of George and Myrtle (Lalim) Peterson.  He grew up on the family farm northwest of Lake Koronis and attended Paynesville High School, graduating in 1965.  On October 2, 1981, Leon was united in marriage to Janice Fenske at Nordland Lutheran Church.  They made their home near Hawick where they farmed.  In 2008, Leon retired due to injuries from a car accident and later became a resident of Koronis Manor. 

Leon was a lifelong member of Nordland Lutheran Church where he served as an usher.  He enjoyed playing softball and cards with friends.

Leon is survived by his wife, Janice of 39 years; daughter, Darlene Peterson, and husband, Eric Jensen of Chaska, and brothers-in-law, Dennis Fenske and Dean (Cindy) Fenske.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Kermit, Earl, and Orlyn.
