Lois was born on August 27, 1943, in Willmar, Minnesota, to Walter and Lillian (Bergman) Carlson. She grew up in rural Pennock, attended country school, and graduated from Willmar High School with the Class of 1961.
In 1962, she married Lowell Fostervold. Lois began her career at the Bank of Willmar, where she worked as a cashier before becoming a loan officer. In the early 1980s, she and three friends founded Belomar Tax Service in Willmar, building it into a successful business. She retired in 2008.
Lois and Lowell enjoyed traveling together, visiting all 50 states, touring Europe. After Lowell’s passing, Lois made three trips to South Korea to spend time with their son and his family.
A devoted member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar, Lois served on the church council and call committee, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, participated in Bible study, and was a faithful member of the prayer chain.
Lois found joy in gardening, baking, photography, playing the piano, singing, and sewing. She was also a loyal Minnesota sports fan who rarely missed watching the Twins or Vikings play.
On November 13, 2021, Lois married Tom Renstrom at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. They enjoyed spending time together watching sports, going out for dinner, visiting with family and friends, and simply enjoying each other's company.
Above all, Lois cherished her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother who faithfully attended her children's and grandchildren's games, concerts, and activities whenever she could. Her grandchildren especially looked forward to time at Grandma's house, where bedtime often included a bowl of ice cream before heading off to sleep.
