LuJean Arends, age 73, of Willmar, died Wednesday evening, September 23, at Bethesda Grand Nursing Home in Willmar.
A private family memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Carris Health Rice Hospice. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, www.hafh.org.
LuJean Evelyn Arends was born December 10, 1946, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Walter and Mildred (Halverson) Kraft. She grew up in West St. Paul and graduated from Sibley High School in 1965. She then attended the Alexandria Program of Practical Nursing, graduating in 1966 and began her nursing career at Rice Memorial Hospital. On August 10, 1968, she married Harvey Arends in West St. Paul, they resided in Willmar for a short time before moving to Raymond where they raised their three daughters, Tiffany, Tanya and Tammy and later divorced. LuJean loved being a homemaker and raising her three daughters. She later returned back to nursing, working at Rice Care Center in Willmar and other home health agencies in West Central Minnesota.
LuJean was an amazing listener and source for good advice. She was an avid reader and had a love for learning. LuJean enjoyed keeping up to date on current events especially the weather. She would often alert her daughters of the latest storm heading their way. Most of all, LuJean cherished time spent with her family and friends.
She is survived by three daughters: Tiffany (and Keith) Collins of Kerkhoven, MN, Tanya (and Ben) Peal of Windsor, CO, and Tammy (and Chad) Schoep of Flower Mound, TX; nine grandchildren: Aaron (and Kelly) Collins, Caleb Collins, Grace Collins, Daniel Peal, Abigail Peal, Sierra Schoep, Cameron Schoep, Griffin Schoep, and Sawyer Schoep; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
