Lynn Reiter Obituary

Lynn Catherine (Dollerschell) Reiter passed away peacefully at her home in rural Willmar, MN on November 18, 2020. A private family service will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, November 25, at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar with a Celebration of Life to follow in the spring of 2021.  Video is of the service is available below. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to the American Liver Foundation or the American Kidney Fund.

Lynn was born on April 16, 1970 at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester Minnesota to Allen and Marcia (Landeen) Dollerschell, the youngest of their three daughters. She was baptized and confirmed at First Presbyterian Church, Rochester. She attended Washington Elementary School, Kellogg Jr. High and graduated from John Marshall (Class of 1988) where she was on the softball team and played trumpet in the band.

Lynn began her college experience at UW-Madison until early in her sophomore year when the first of a series of health issues interrupted her studies. UW Hospital diagnosed Wilson's disease which required a liver transplant followed by a second liver transplant a year later. The large campus became too much for her to negotiate and she returned to Rochester and took classes at RCTC for a year.

Back in Rochester, one summer evening she attended a local fast pitch softball game. There she realized one of the pitchers was Joe Reiter, someone she'd known since Jr. High school. Joe would become the love of her life. Energized by this new and exciting relationship she began working on a degree in criminal justice at St. Cloud State University. She and Joe were married on October 8, 1994 and they began their life together in Willmar, MN where Joe was employed at Gurley Foods. She commuted from Willmar to St. Cloud and got her degree in 1995.

Her degree required an internship which she completed by working with community corrections for Kandiyohi County in Willmar. This led to a full-time job as a probation officer for the next 24 years. During this time she had two kidney transplants and multiple joint replacements. Declining health forced her to retire in 2019.

Lynn loved their beautiful home on a lake north of Willmar, a house that she and Joe designed and helped build. She loved crafts, especially the making of greeting cards. She loved clothes, makeup, and sold Mary Kay products. She was proud of her red hair which she styled herself. She loved to decorate, cook, ice-fish, and attend Joe's fast pitch soft ball games.... sometimes six games in one weekend. (she was the loudest cheerleader in the stands). And she adored a progression of golden retrievers: Hudson, Seven, and Brooks.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joe Reiter; her parents in Rochester; two older sisters, Anne (Jay) Jordan of Brookeville, MD and Amy Dollerschell of Rochester, plus many nieces, nephews , aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.
