M.Joyce Kinney, 93, of Willmar, died Monday, May 11th at Brookdale in Willmar. Her funeral will be 10:30 am, Friday, May 15th at Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home in Willmar with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach, NE at a later date.
M. Joyce Kinney was born April 5, 1933, in Grand Island, Nebraska, the daughter of George and Caroline (Kirschke) Kinney.
Joyce lived in California, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Minnesota. She was baptized at Saint Steven Episcopal church in Grand Island. She was confirmed at Saint Lukes Episcopal Church in San Diego, California. When she lived in North Dakota, she attended Teien Covenant Church and in 1995 Joyce moved to Benson, Minnesota, where she became a member of the Evangelical Free Church.
Joyce received her early education in San Diego and later graduated high school in Saint Paul, Nebraska. Her career included caregiving for children and elderly adults, working in a local cafe, and serving faithfully in her church.
Her artistic activities included embroidery, sewing, quilting and sewing all sizes of doll clothes. One of her favorites was making Raggedy Ann and Andy Dolls. She found great joy in giving her creations to others.
Joyce cherished every moment when she could spend time with family and friends, each one was very special to her.
She is survived by her sister, Caroline (Kinney) Beck, Milbank, South Dakota. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews which include, Diann (Vernell) Johnson and children, Gayle Liebe and children, Teri (Steve} Anderson and children, Darla (Tim) Zubke and children, Jacob Beck, Cheryl Ann Kinney, Gerard Kinney, and James Kinney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Gordan, Richard and Gerald Kinney, and sister, Dorthea Kinney.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers Joyce had later in life, especially the staff at Hallowstone (Brookdale) who became family to her.
