Mildred Mae (Torgerud) Forstrom, 97, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025 at Copperleaf Assisted Living in Willmar. Her memorial service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, July 12 at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Private burial will be at Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Copperleaf Assisted Living and/or Moments Hospice. Mae was born September 6, 1927 in rural Rushford, MN to Floyd and Clara (Fossum) Torgerud. She attended schools in Rushford and graduated from Rushford High School in 1945. After graduation, she moved to Minneapolis and worked in an insurance office. Mae married Herlon “Herk” Forstrom on May 28, 1949 in Webster, South Dakota. They lived in Willmar for many years on Eagle Lake. Mae was employed at the Willmar Regional Treatment Center in the business office for 36 years and retired in 1986. Mae and Herk spent 13 winters in the Bonita Springs area of south Florida. Following Herk's passing, Mae enjoyed many bus tours with her friend, Carley Braband, traveling throughout the United States and Canada.
Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Herk; her parents, Floyd and Clara Torgerud; her sister and brother-in-law, Bette and Herb Thompson; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Rose Forstrom; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kelly and Norma Forstrom, and nephew, Paul Forstrom.
Mae is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Gordie and Eileen Torgerud of Delano; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mae's family wishes to thank the staff at Copperleaf Assisted Living and Moments Hospice for the wonderful, compassionate care she received during her time there.
