Margaret Adele Anderson was born May 25, 1935, on the family farm a mile north of Blomkest, MN, to George and Florence (Bjuge) Anderson. She grew up on the family farm and attended school through 8th grade at Blomkest School District #64 and then attended Willmar High School. She was confirmed in May 1949 at Mission Covenant Church in Willmar.
On February 28, 1953, she married Elmer Gordon Gravgaard and spent the next 18 years as a military wife and mother, moving and living in many places around the country - among them Jacksonville FL, Memphis TN, Grand Forks ND, Aurora CO, and the Philippines. After Elmer's retirement from the military in 1971 the family settled in Willmar.
For many years, Margaret was a stay-at-home mom and chauffeured her own kids and their friends to many activities. She was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday School and Release time teacher, Den mother, and Deaconess. Margaret spent many hours working in the church’s library and volunteering in many other activities at the church.
Margaret worked for Fred Anderson for 20 years at the east side Dairy Queen in Willmar, retiring in 2000 after many enjoyable years serving up DQ treats.
Margaret enjoyed camping, gardening, riding bike and playing games with family and friends. She especially enjoyed watching hockey and other sports when her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren played. Margaret was an avid reader, a master of puzzles, and spent numerous hours sewing and creating handcrafted projects.
