Marilyn Moorhouse Obituary

Marilyn Moorhouse, 95, of Spicer, died Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at CentraCare Willmar Care Center.

Her memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 15, at First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake near New London. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar.  Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home in New London, www.hafh.org.

Marilyn was born January 26, 1928, in Lake Andrew Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, the daughter of Roy and Alma (Trustheim) Thorson.  She grew up on several farms in Kandiyohi County and later moved to Willmar, where she graduated from Willmar High School in 1946.  She married Harold Wilger and they made their home in Willmar. Two children, James and Diane, were born to their marriage.  In 1982, she moved to Minnetonka and later married John Moorhouse.  She had resided in Spicer since 2004.

Marilyn worked as a legal secretary, a real estate broker, and for several years as a property manager for properties throughout the Midwest.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church while living in Willmar and returned to her childhood church, First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake, after moving to Spicer.  Marilyn enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing, traveling, and celebrating holidays.  She was a wonderful caregiver to both of her husbands.  Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family, who were her heart and soul.

She is survived by her two children: James (Judy) Wilger of Naples, ID, and Diane (Jay) Liedman of Paynesville, MN; three grandchildren: Brian Peterson, Alissa (Ryan) Olson, and Britta Liedman; and four great-grandchildren: Anna, Dylan, Emma, and Emily.  Also surviving are two brothers; Roger (Shirley) Thorson and Dale (Karen) Thorson; a sister: Beatrice (Dean) Brockman; and several nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands: Harold Wilger and John Moorhouse; a sister: Phyllis Nelson; three brothers: Eldon Thorson, Lowell Thorson, and Harold Thorson; and a granddaughter-in-law: Melissa Peterson.
