Marion Dilley Obituary

Marion L. Dilley, 98 of New London, died Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Bethesda Care Suites in Willmar.  Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2020 at the Johnson Funeral Home in New London.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.   Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in New London.

Marion Luella Sonstegard Dilley was the second born of Jenny and George Sonstegard’s 9 children on August 19, 1921 and passed peacefully on March 4, 2020 as she left this world to meet her loved ones who had gone before: parents, George and Jenny; husband, Robert; daughter, Sharon; son, Robert Jr.; grandsons, Kevin Duscher and Andrew Dilley; and siblings, Alton, Ralph, Irvin and Edna (Dean).

Marion often shared her memories of pulling a wagon around Green Lake selling her mother’s fresh baked bread, delivering newspapers throughout New London, and her exploits at Girl Scout camp.  She loved gardening, canning, fishing, picking blueberries in the Duluth area – or picking anything for that matter, and was especially proud that “there wasn’t much she couldn’t fix”.  She had exceptional artistic ability, won several County Fair ribbons and had an art showing at WEAC building in Willmar.

She always said she was going to live to be 100, but the horrible disease of dementia decided differently.  Marion is survived by her daughters, Patricia Dilley Creecy of Arizona, Linda Dilley of Willmar, Rita Dilley Evans of Washington, and Pamela Dilley of New London; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Edith (Jackson), Roger, Judith, and Lee.  She was so loved and will be so missed.
