Marvella S. Isaacson

Marvella Shirley Isaacson, 97, of Willmar, died Saturday, May 13th at Bethesda Grand in Willmar with her family by her side. Her funeral service will be 11:00 am, Friday, May 19th at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Clover Leaf Cemetery in Willmar. Memorials are preferred to CentraCare Cancer Center or Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. www.hafh.org

Marvella Shirley Isaacson was born March 9, 1926, to Clifford Sr. and Cornelia (Stromseth) Delp near Morris. She attended country school District #39 before graduating from Hancock High School in 1945. She continued her education in Minneapolis at a cosmetology school. After her schooling, Marvella moved to Willmar where she met Calvin Isaacson. Marvella began working as a beautician.  On July 14, 1946, Marvella and Calvin were united in marriage at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hancock. To this union three children were born: Cheryl, Bruce and Ronnie. They made their home in Willmar where they continued to live for over 68 years. Marvella stayed home raising their children while they were in school. When the kids were older, she started working for the Willmar Public Schools in food service. Marvella was an active member of Vinje Lutheran Church. She helped in various circles which included the Altar Guild, Holiday Bazaar, and also making soap and quilts. Marvella always made people feel welcome and she was a wonderful caregiver. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, playing cards, reading, baking, sewing and embroidery. She loved her family and enjoyed spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma and friend.

Marvella is survived by children: Cheryl (and Tim) Johnson of Willmar, Bruce (and Barb) Isaacson of Willmar, Ronnie (and Robin) Isaacson of Blomkest; seven grandchildren: Tanya Isaacson, Tanis (and Rob) Thometz, Michael (and Amy) Isaacson, Amy Johnson (Eric Fitzgerald), Kellie (and Brian) Marcus, Kimberly (Mark) Gaffaney and Tracie (and Justin Warner) Isaacson; 14 great grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her siblings: Les (Toni) Delp and Clifford Jr. (Linda) Delp.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin; parents and siblings: Wayne Delp and Synova Lundquist.
