Marvin “Marv” Ray Peters, 80, of Willmar, died Tuesday, November 5th at Bethesda Grand in Willmar. His funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Friday, November 15th at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Marvin Ray ‘Bear” Peters, was born May 2, 1944, to Heye and Fern (Quigley) Peters on a farm near Clara City. Marv was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. He attended country school as well as Montevideo and Renville Public Schools. On November 4, 1961, Marv married Karen Wulf at St. John's Lutheran Church in Renville, and together they had three children: Kimberly, Brenda, and Jason.
Marv and Karen made their home in Montevideo before relocating to Delhi in 1974, where they became owners of “The Bear's Den." In 1984, they moved to Spicer, where they ran Chelsey’s Supper Club for many years. After spending 40 years in Spicer, they retired in Willmar, where they were actively attending the Assembly of God Church.
Marv had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing. He also liked playing pool, watching western TV shows, listening to country music. Above all, he treasured taking pontoon rides around Green Lake with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; children: Kimberly (Terry) Kohls, Brenda (David) Hines, and Jason (Cassie) Peters; grandchildren: Blake, Channing, Austin, Whitney, Grace, Lilli, and Maxdon; and great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Bristol, and Angelo. Marv is also survived by three brothers, and four sisters-in-law.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Collin Kohls; two brothers and two sisters.
Marv will be remembered for his love of family and his strong work ethic. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
