Marvin "Marv" Lindgren Obituary

Marvin "Marv" C. Lindgren, 94, of Willmar, formerly of Pennock, died Saturday, March 9th at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.  His funeral will be 11:00 am, Saturday, March 16th at Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Pennock with interment in the church cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post #167 of Willmar.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Funeral arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

Marvin “Marv” Clifford Lindgren was born September 14, 1929, to Clifford and Anna (Olson) Lindgren in Dovre Township.

He attended grade school in District 14 South in Pennock, Willmar High School for one year and then Morris Ag School from which he graduated.

In December of 1950, Marv enlisted in the Air Force where he was an Air Force Policeman, serving in Texas, Georgia and Roswell, New Mexico.

In 1951, he began working for Great Northern Railway which later became Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railway. Marv was employed there for 39 years retiring in January of 1992.

He farmed his father’s land along with his own farm near Pennock. Marv also custom farmed for some neighbors.

Marv was a member of Mamrelund Church in Pennock all of his life. He served on the church Council, as an usher and greeter and also on the cemetery committee for over 40 years.

In 1954, he was united in marriage to Janis Grande of Atwater and to this union three children were born: Jeffrey, Jolene and John.

Marvin is survived by his children: Jeffrey (Lori) Lindgren of Fifty Lakes, Jolene (Dave) Ruschen of Raymond, and John (Angie) Lindgren of Willmar; grandchildren: Jessica (Josh) Lindgren, Nicole Lindgren (Tyler), Jaci (Shane) Miller, Dustin Ruschen, Taylor (Jeff) Newberg, Schyler (Sean) Zuidema, and Jett Lindgren; great-grandchildren: Lanessa, Keisha, Taya, Dillon, Dash, Hunter, Chase and Sammy; sisters: Sonia Collier, Gervaise (Ralph) Berg and Merry Rue (Jim) Visger.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janis, parents, and siblings: Harvey and Marilyn.
