Mary Louise Lang was born to Ray and Myrtle (Hendrickson) Edwards on June 30, 1931, at the family farm in Harrison Township. She was baptized and later confirmed at Harrison Community Presbyterian Church. Mary grew up on the family farm where she helped with many of the outdoor chores. She attended country school before graduating from Atwater High School in 1949. Mary was united in marriage to Roger Lang on August 28, 1949, at her church. To this union, four children were born: Colleen, Karole, Stephen and Vicki. After moving around for a few years, they made their home in Kandiyohi. During this time, she worked at Tempo and the Post Office and she also helped Roger with the Bookkeeping at Lang Mobil Oil. They both retired from Lang Mobil Oil in 1995. Although Mary and Roger were homebodies, they did travel to California via train and in their younger years Yellowstone National Park and Mount Rushmore. Mary enjoyed quilting, puzzles, and embroidery. She was an avid reader and exceptional baker. Harrison Presbyterian and the church community always had an incredibly special place in her heart. She enjoyed Bible study, Ladies’ Aide, and volunteering at the church anyway she could. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma, and friend.
Mary is survived by her children: Colleen (Arvid) Helin of Olivia, Karole Lee of St. Croix Falls, WI, Stephen (Paula) Lang of Kandiyohi, and Vicki (Joel) Berghuis of Willmar; grandchildren: Jay (Kindra) Helin, Tammi (Ryan) Minke, Gregg (Cathy) Helin, Christopher Lee, Carrie (Benjamin) Loesel, Andrew (Susie) Lang, Hayley (Joshua) Nieman, Barree (Chad) Breimhorst, Jacob Berghuis, Mitchell (Lauren) Berghuis, Alex Berghuis and Clark Berghuis; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Delores) Edwards and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; parents, son-in-law, Warren Lee and siblings: Daryl Edwards and Phyllis and Roy Berres.
