MaryAnn C. (Nelson) Maurice

MaryAnn C. Maurice 79, of New London, died Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 6, 2022, at Peace Lutheran Church in New London.  Burial will be at Gausdal Cemetery in rural New London.  A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-8:00 pm at Johnson Funeral Home in New London and continue one hour prior to the service on Friday.  

MaryAnn C. Maurice was born on March 28, 1943, in the New London Township, the daughter of Solon and Carrie (Northrup) Nelson.  She grew up in New London where she received her education, graduating from New London High School with the Class of 1960.  On June 4, 1961, MaryAnn was united in marriage to Roger Christiansen.  This union was blessed with two daughters and two sons.  The couple later divorced.  MaryAnn later married Robert Maurice.  This union was blessed with a son.  The family made their home in New London where MaryAnn worked at various places in the area including GlenOaks, Jennie-O, and a group home in Spicer.  MaryAnn and Robert later divorced.

MaryAnn loved animals and the outdoors.  She enjoyed going to the races to watch her sons and grandsons race.  She also enjoyed flower gardening, listening to music, and feeding squirrels, birds, and any stray that needed a meal.  Above all else, MaryAnn loved her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

MaryAnn is survived by her children:  Jody (Marty) Winther, Craig (Shelly) Christiansen, Ross Christiansen, Kelly (Bruce) Felling, and Kris Maurice; ten grandchildren; 14, great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Maryann was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Roger Nelson in 1990.
