Mary Lou Wickstrom, 93, of Willmar, died Thursday, June 11th at Bethesda Grand in Willmar. Her memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. www.hafh.org
Mary Lou Wickstrom was born to William and Lillian (Robson) Ferguson on November 1, 1926, in Chicago, IL. She grew up in Chicago where Mary Lou was baptized and confirmed. She attended elementary and high school in Chicago graduating in 1944. During WWII, Mary Lou moved to Florida where she was a civilian who worked on Homestead Army Air Field, where she met Alvin Wickstrom. On September 10, 1945, Mary Lou was united in marriage to Alvin at Miami Army Airfield in Homestead, FL. They eventually made their home in Kandiyohi where Mary Lou worked as a Ward Clerk at Rice Memorial Hospital. Mary Lou enjoyed sewing, knitting sweaters and hats for infants, hats and mittens for family, cooking, playing cards, cribbage, making donuts, watching birds and being at her cabin. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma and friend.
Mary Lou is survived by her children: Gene (and Paula) Wickstrom of Willmar, Gerald Wickstrom of Chamberlain, SD, Donald Wickstrom of Toledo, OR, and Thomas Wickstrom of Roslyn, SD; grandchildren: Jeris (and Toopan Bagchi) Stueland of Edina and their children: Vashti, Rithik, and Hari, Eric Wickstrom of Richfield, Brett Stueland of Vernon, AZ, Brendan (and Amanda) Wickstrom of New Brighton and their children: Ira, Porter, and Ellis, and Emily (special friend, Travis Duffy) Wickstrom of Pierre, SD.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, parents, and siblings: Tom Ferguson, Bill Ferguson and Dorothy Rhodes.
