Matthew “Matt” Hagen, 51, of Willmar, died Thursday, May 28 at the St. Cloud Hospital. His memorial service will be 11:00 am, Thursday, June 4 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Wednesday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Please wear something casual. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home in Willmar.
Matthew Ryan Hagen was born August 29, 1974, in Willmar, to Ronald and Patricia (Erickson) Hagen. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School in 1992. Throughout the years, Matt worked at Walmart, Roth Chevrolet, Marketing Concepts, and Jennie-O. Some of his hobbies included pheasant, duck and goose hunting, fishing, bow hunting, and disc golf. He was a big Minnesota sports fan and enjoyed watching the Vikings, Wild, and Twins games. He also enjoyed playing video games with his friends. Matt never knew a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. He especially loved spending time with his friend group, affectionately known as “The Hounds”. Matt met his longtime girlfriend, Bonnie Kascht, in 2010 through work. They have spent the last 15+ years going on vacations, visiting casinos, fishing and looking for a good bargain!
He is survived by his parents; sister, Tracy (Troy) Gilchrist; niece, Taelyn; nephew, Tyrell; his girlfriend, Bonnie; and a plethora of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by grandparents: Elgin and Phyllis Erickson, and Albert and Myrtle Hagen; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
