Maxine Laura Potter, 98, formerly of Kandiyohi, died Monday, May 16th at Bethesda Grand in Willmar. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 21st at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Kandiyohi. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm, Friday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and continue one hour prior to her service at church. Burial will be in Clover Leaf Cemetery in Willmar. Maxine Laura Potter was born March 14, 1924, to Andrew and Viola (Beilke) Walburg near Emden, ND. She attended country school before graduating from West Fargo High School in 1942. On August 8, 1945, Maxine was united in marriage to Richard Lyle Potter in Algona, Iowa. This union was blessed with three children. They lived in Algona and Burt Iowa. During this time Maxine stayed at home and raised her children. In 1951, Maxine, Richard and their family moved to Kandiyohi. She continued to stay home with her children until they were in high school, then she started working part time in the post office in Kandiyohi before being transferred to Willmar’s post office. She enjoyed volunteering at the church where she folded bulletins and also helped in the church kitchen. Maxine also enjoyed watching birds, arts and crafts and baking. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Maxine is survived by her children: Larry (Mary Riggs) Potter of Brainerd and Connie (Don) Lillehaug of Maple Grove; 5 grandchildren: Laura (Ron) Cleveland, Julie Haugaard, Traci (Caleb) Tiffany, Steven (Cammie) Lillehaug and John (Amy) Lillehaug; 10 great grandchildren: Alex Cleveland, Alexis Haugaard, Tia Haugaard, Nevaeh Haugaard, Brody Tiffany, Bradey Lillehaug, Dylan Lillehaug, Abigail Lillehaug, Emma Lillehaug, Sara Lillehaug; 2 great great grandchildren: Reese and Claire Lillehaug
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, parents, son, Richard Lyle Potter Jr; sisters: Mildred Keating and Andrea Lepird; and brother in infancy.
