McKenna Swenson, 32, of Blackduck, formerly of Willmar, died Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina.
Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 17, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Interment will be at Eagle Lake Lutheran Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 16, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, with an additional hour of visitation prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
McKenna Rae Swenson was born December 3, 1991, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Jon and Tamara (Winther) Swenson. She grew up in Redwood Falls and graduated from Redwood Valley High School in 2010. While in high school, she was active in volleyball and basketball, played clarinet in the band, and served as a statistician for the football team.
After high school, McKenna attended Ridgewater College, where she studied business and marketing, later continuing her education at Walden University. She worked at Jackpot Junction in Morton and Northland Group in Willmar before moving to the Twin Cities, where she became a dedicated personal care assistant. Three years ago, she relocated to Blackduck, continuing her compassionate work as a care assistant.
McKenna enjoyed fitness and running, particularly enjoying 5K runs with her mother and sister-in-law. She loved music, movies, friends and her dogs. Above all, she cherished the time spent with family; boating, trail riding, going to the cabin or just hanging out.
McKenna is survived by her parents: Jon and Tamara Swenson of Willmar; a brother: Caleb (Samantha) Swenson of Sunburg and their children: Piper, Nova, and Axel. Also surviving are her special friend: Stephanie Micheals; her maternal grandmother: Beverly Winther; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather: Harold Winther; her paternal grandparents: Elroy and Aloha Swenson; five uncles; and four cousins.
