Nancy Jo (Peterson) Wendt

Nancy Jo Wendt, 80, of New London died Saturday, August 29, 2020, at her home in New London.  A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday, September 6, at Living Word Lutheran Church in rural New London.  A private burial will be held at Beaver Falls Cemetery in Morton.  A visitation will be held 30 min before the service at the church.  Services are entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home in New London.  www.hafh.org  

Nancy Jo Wendt was born on June 4, 1940, in LeRoy, MN, the daughter of Roy and Mabel (King) Peterson.  She grew up in Albert Lea where she attended St. Theodore Catholic School in Albert Lea and went on to graduate from Albert Lea High School in 1958.  On May 27, 1961, Nancy Jo was united in marriage to Donald D. Wendt in Albert Lea.  This union was blessed with two daughters and two sons.  They made their home in Albert Lea until moving in 1969 to Norwood Young America and later to Redwood Falls where they owned and operated the Pizza Villa.  They moved to New London in 1991, where Nancy Jo went to work as a PCA.  She retired in 2004 and worked as a librarian in New London.  

Nancy Jo was a member of Living Word Lutheran Church in New London.  She enjoyed her family, friends, church, and Neil Diamond.  Above all else, Nancy Jo loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished the time she was able to spend with them.   

Nancy Jo Wendt is survived by her children:  Kathy (Rick) Gauger of Minneapolis, Grant (Michelle) Wendt of St. Cloud, Jeff Wendt of Austin, TX, and Jennifer Wendt of New London; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Darlene (Carl) Gaddis of Pittsburgh, PA, and Corald (Connie) Peterson of Albert Lea; sister-in-law, Marilyn Wendt of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews. 

Nancy Jo was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald D.; and brothers, Roy Peterson Jr. and Rollie Peterson.
