Ofelia Carillo Llaguno

Ofelia Llaguno, age 69, of Willmar, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Central Minnesota Senior Care Scandia House in Willmar after a five-year battle with cancer. Her memorial service will be at 11:00 am, Friday, June 11th at Word of Faith Family Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service at the church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. www.hafh.org

Ofelia Carillo Llaguno was born April 6, 1952, in the Philippines, the daughter of Bernardo H. and Estrella (Minosa) Carillo.  She lived in the Philippines until 1979, when came to the United States with her husband, Charlie, to be able to pursue the "American Dream".  She left her two children in the care of family in the Philippines until she became an American citizen.  Her children, Alfonso and Michelle joined her in the United States in 1980 with the help of their uncle, Nelson Minosa.

Ofelia lived in northern Minnesota until the mid-1980s, when she moved to Willmar.  She wintered in Las Vegas and traveled to northern Minnesota during the summer to continue her passion of feeding people at many festivals and fairs until 2020.  Her food was loved by her children and grandchildren, and she enjoyed making their favorites.  She had a green thumb and could make any plant live.  She also enjoyed wearing her cute shoes and fancy clothes with lots of shine and sparkles.

Ofelia never made any enemies and no one had to ask her twice for help, no matter the issue.  She was loved by many people and always had a smile on her face.

She is survived by her two children: Alfonso Carillo Buenaventura, Jr., of Virginia, MN and Michelle Minosa (and Russell) Gee of Willmar, MN; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other family members living in the Philippines.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Rally Narvasa.
