Orrin Fixsen Obituary

Orrin O. Fixsen, 96, of New London, died Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at the Copperleaf Senior Living Community in Willmar.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Crossroads Methodist Church in rural Spicer.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Services are entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home in New London.

Orrin O. Fixsen was born on July 14, 1924, in Wabasso, MN, the son of Louis and Illinora (Bock) Fixsen.  He grew up in Wabasso where he received his education, graduating from Wabasso High School with the Class of 1942.  After high school, Orrin enlisted with the United States Army.  He served in England and France during WWII and earned his honorable discharge on February 16, 1946.  After the military, Orrin moved back to the Wabasso area where he began farming.

On October 16, 1949, Orrin was united in marriage to the love of his life, Jeanette Ensey, at the New Avon Methodist Church.  Their union was blessed with three daughters and one son.  The family made their home near Wabasso where Orrin and Jeanette farmed.  In 1997, Orrin retired and he and Jeanette moved to their lake home on Lake Andrew near New London.

Orrin was a former member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Wabasso where he volunteered in many areas of service, especially singing.  After retiring and moving to New London, he became a member of the Crossroads Methodist Church and helped build their new structure. Orrin loved serving others and became a dedicated member of the American Legion and Lions Club in both Wabasso and New London.  As a Lion, he rose to the position of District Governor and was responsible for starting just under 30 new clubs.  In his free time, Orrin enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing baseball, dancing, and listening to music and singing. He was a warm and loving father to his children and adored spending time with his grandchildren.

Orrin is survived by his wife of 71 years, Jeanette; children:  Pam Dagner of Shakopee, Debbie Sinclair of St. Louis, MO, Jeff Fixsen of Woodbury, and Kris (Bob) Mach of Farmington; grandchildren:  Christopher and Brandon Dagner, Joshua and Zachary Sinclair and Morgan and Alex Mach; great-grandchildren:  Cassandra and Courtney Dagner and Alek and Baron Sinclair; and many nieces and nephews.

Orrin was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Viola Pfeifer; brother, Harold Fixsen; son-in-law, Mark Dagner; and daughter-in-law, Linda Fixsen.
