Pat Carlson

Pat Carlson, 87, of Pennock, died Saturday, May 23rd at Bethesda Grand in Willmar. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 27th at 11:00 am at Salem Covenant Church in rural Pennock. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm on Tuesday at the church and continue one hour prior to her service. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Patricia Ann Carlson was born to Elmo and Elsie (Schreffler) Pelkey on July 18, 1938, in Roseville Township and grew up in the Hawick and New London area. Pat graduated from New London High School in 1956 and continued her education in the cities where she received a degree in bookkeeping.

On June 19, 1959, Pat was united in marriage to Marvin H. Carlson at the United Methodist Church in Hawick. They lived and farmed in Mamre Township, near Pennock. She and Marvin raised cows, pigs, and crops. Pat enjoyed driving tractor and kept a large vegetable garden for many years. 

Pat was the secretary at Salem Covenant Church for 34 years where she helped “raise” many pastors. She loved birdwatching, baking, and cooking. She also enjoyed fishing with Marvin and her family where she would often out fish them. They enjoyed trips to Lake Winnibigoshish, Potato Lake, and Canada.

Pat loved being a grandma and going to her grandchildren’s sports events and music concerts. She cherished keeping pictures and articles of her grandchildren and spending as much time as she could with them. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma, and friend.

Pat is survived by her children: Howard (and Terri) Carlson of Kerkhoven, Julie (and Tim) Andres of Spicer, and LuAnn Carlson of Willmar; three grandchildren: Amber Carlson, Tayler (and Zoe) Carlson, and Travis Carlson. She is also survived by her siblings: Barb (and Donnie) Jones, Roxanne (and Gary) Oeltjenbruns, and sister-in-law, Janet Pelkey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, and siblings: Mike Pelkey, Carol (and Burton) Ditmarson, and Becky (and Henry) Schmitz.
