Patricia Baker, age 90, of Spicer, died Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at the Belgrade Nursing Home.
Her memorial service will be 10:30 am, Saturday, August 14th at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery. www.hafh.org. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Patricia Angell Baker was born January 29, 1931, in Rosholt, South Dakota, the daughter of Gottfred and Clara (Backman) Nelson. She grew up and received her education in Rosholt, South Dakota, graduating from Rosholt High School in 1949 as valedictorian. In 1950, she married William Baker in Rosholt, SD and two children, Marcia and Mark, were born to their marriage. They later divorced. Patricia lived in Willmar, MN, Apache Junction, AZ, and Anoka, MN. She worked at Puritan Cafe, state hospital, Northwestern Bell, banking, opened original JoAnn Fabric, Holm Brothers, and Floor to Ceiling, and as an interior decorator. She also worked at Motorola, was a nanny, and cleaned homes in Arizona until her retirement in 2001. Patricia later moved back to Willmar and most recently resided at the Belgrade Nursing Home.
Patricia was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar and Gold Canyon Methodist Church in Arizona. She was good-hearted and very giving of her time, volunteering at church and the Food Shelf, and helping seniors. She was a fearless, strong, independent, quick-witted, opiniated, wonderful and caring person who will be dearly missed by all family and friends.
Patricia is survived by a son: Mark Baker (and Jeannie Fong) of Spicer, MN; a granddaughter: Laura Nelson (and Rafael Lopez) of New York, NY; siblings: Barbara Knight of Bloomington, MN, Karen (and Tom) Beadle of Farmington, MN, and Judy (and Dan) Berglund of Lynden, WA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter: Marcia in 1996; brothers: Don and Willis; and a sister Dorothy Rustad.
