Phyllis Jane Petersen was born July 14, 1932, to John Jr. and Mamie (Fokken) Peters in rural Clara City. She attended country school until the eighth grade and later in life completed her GED which she was very proud of. On April 10, 1953, Phyllis was united in marriage to Adrian Petersen at Bethany Reformed Church. To this union five children were born: Leroy, Christine, Vernon, Duaine and Laurie. They made their home on the farm. Phyllis was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardening for her family and raising their children. She was a wonderful cook and baker and would often try new recipes that she learned while attending her local homemakers’ group. She also enjoyed growing flowers. Phyllis enjoyed watching the Twins, drawing, coloring pictures with her grandchildren, playing Scrabble and was great at word puzzle books. While in the nursing home, she was very active in their activities and would almost always be the first person there. She was a gifted seamstress and quilter and had her quilts on several covers of magazines. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma and friend.

Phyllis is survived by her sons: Leroy (and Sheryl) Petersen, Vernon (and Junell) Petersen of Clara City, and Duaine (and Julie) Petersen of Hyattville, WY; daughter, Laurie (and Bill) Shubert of Willmar; son-in-law, Ken (and Jan) Beyerl of Clara City; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She is also survived her sister, Eloise Nelson of Oregon; and brother-in-law, Leonard Emmen of Coon Rapids, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian, parents, daughter, Christine Beyerl, siblings: Muriel Emmen and Wesley Peters, and brother-in-law, William Nelson, and great-grandson, Joshua Petersen.
