Rebecca “Becky” Skare, 80, of Willmar, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026, surrounded by her family at Bethesda StoneRidge in Willmar following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Her memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Calvary Lutheran Cemetery in Willmar. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Homes.
Rebecca Ann (Haugen) Skare was born August 12, 1945, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Oliver and Alyce Haugen. She grew up in Willmar, was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church, and graduated from Willmar High School in 1963. On April 10, 1965, she was united in marriage to Donald Skare at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. They were blessed with five children: Dawn, Bryan, Alycia, Tara, and Nicole. Together they shared the joy of 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. In 2011, Becky and Don moved to Nixa, Missouri. Following Don’s death in August 2023, Becky returned to Willmar in November 2025.
Becky worked as a CNA at Rice Memorial Hospital, Bethesda, and REM group homes until her retirement in 2007. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Becky enjoyed reading, entertaining family and friends, and baking. She loved sharing her homemade treats with others, and many of her friends in Missouri affectionately referred to her home as “The Sugar Shack.”
She is survived by her daughters, Dawn (Jeff) Armstrong, Alycia (Scott) Gilb, Tara (Troy) Chvala, and Nicole (Ben) Kalevik; her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Skare; her son, Bryan Skare; her great-grandson, Gabriel Carranza; and her brother, Arlen Haugen.
