Robert Dale Roelofs, 81, of Blomkest died Saturday, August 10th at his home. His outdoor memorial service will be 10:30 am, Friday, August 16th at Svea Lutheran Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family is encouraging everyone to dress casually and to bring a chair to sit in. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, www.hafh.org.
Robert Dale Roelofs was born on August 8, 1943, to Alvin and Ada (Bliek) Roelofs in Willmar. He grew up on the family farm outside of Prinsburg. Bob attended elementary school in Prinsburg and high school in Clara City. After his studies were completed, Bob began working road construction with Duininck Brothers. He enlisted in the US Army Reserves in 1964, where he honorably served until 1970. On November 26, 1966, Robert was united in marriage to Linda Schoeppler at Svea Lutheran Church. A family of four children (Suzanne, Joel, Michael, and Gina) was raised in the family home in Blomkest. In 1999, Bob and Linda moved to their current residence in the country near Roseland.
In addition to his military service, Bob started a lengthy career as a truck driver. In 1978, he started his own trucking company, owning and operating it until 1988. He continued to drive for Somody Supply and Truck Transport until semi-retirement in 2012. Bob decided to work with 3NG North on a part-time basis, and enjoyed staying busy whenever someone would call.
Bob was an active member of the Morton Saddle Club and the Willmar American Legion. He enjoyed riding horses with his family and friends, motorcycle trips with his sons, and horse camping. Bob loved to socialize with family and friends, whether it was coffee with the guys on Friday mornings or a friendly drink at the house. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and friend.
Bob is survived by his wife, Linda; children: Suzanne Negen of Benson, Joel (Kelly) Roelofs of Rockford, Michael (Jennifer) Roelofs of St. Bonifacius and Gina Adey (Larkin) of White Bear Lake; grandchildren: Kalli, Cole, Zachary and Mason Negen, Maiya and Reese Roelofs, Carlee, Lillian and Christian Roelofs, and Lily and John Adey. He is also survived by his siblings: Nancy Ryks and Russell (Connie) Roelofs.
He is proceeded in death by his parents and his brother, Joel Roelofs.
