Rochelle “Shelly” L. Butcher, 74 of Paynesville, formerly of New London, died Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Cura Care Centre in Sauk Centre after a short battle with cancer, with family at her side. Private graveside service will be held at Burbank Cemetery near New London. Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in New London.
Shelly was born Rochelle Louise Jenson, in Minneapolis on July 31, 1950, to Wesley R. Jenson, Sr. and Marcella L. (West) Jenson. She grew up in New London where she attended New London Elementary and NL-S High School, graduating in 1968. She attended Grace Ev. Free Church of New London where she was baptized and confirmed.
Shelly lived in Fridley, Golden Valley, Long Lake, New London, and Paynesville. She was united in marriage to Harry Butcher, and had one daughter, Melissa. They later divorced. Shelly continued to raise Melissa in Paynesville and attended Crystal Hills Assembly Church. She had various jobs, and worked night audit/bookkeeper at Country Inn and Suites where she met many friends from CP Rail. She had a number of interests, which included counted cross stitch, word puzzles, Mahjong on her computer, Court TV, and NASCAR, and her grandchildren and family.
Shelly is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Davis (Shauna); brother, Wesley "Bob" Jenson Jr. (Janice); five grandchildren; Dion, Austin, Ian, Wyatt, and Charitee; two great-grandchildren; Benjamin, and Maverick; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
