Roger D. Gravley

Roger D. Gravley, 90, of Otsego formerly of New London, died Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Riverview Landing in Otsego.  Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Peace Lutheran Church in New London.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church.  Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery in New London.  Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in New London.

Roger Dale Gravley was born on December 11, 1932 on the family farm near New London, the son of Julius and Ida (Jacobson) Gravley. He grew up on the family farm, attended country grade school and New London High School, graduating in 1950.  On May 25, 1957, Roger was united in marriage to Barbara Dilley at Lebanon Lutheran Church.  They made their home in New London where he owned and operated a flooring and tiling business until he started full time as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service, retiring in 1995. Roger and Barb moved to Elk River in 2016 to be closer to their children.  They were able to share in 60 years of marriage before Barb’s death on September 28, 2017.   

Roger was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where he served on church council, volunteered with the youth program and ushered. He served on the New London Fire Department for over 25 years.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bowling.  His biggest hobby was spending time with family and friends. 

Roger is survived by his children, Jill (Tim) Stephens and Tom Gravley; grandchildren, Zach (Karisa) and Mikaela Stephens; and siblings, Bud Gravley, Gordon Gravley and Adeline Lohn.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; parents and siblings, Kenny, Dorothy, Ilo and Gloria.
