Roger Hoffman

Roger Dean Hoffman, 79, of New London, died Saturday, March 1 at the St. Cloud Hospital. His funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 8 at Johnson Funeral Home in New London. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm, Friday at the funeral home and continue one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Lebanon Cemetery in New London. Roger Dean Hoffman was born on March 1, 1946, to Harley Sr. and Elsie (Hill) Hoffman in Belgrade. He attended school in Georgeville and, at a young age, entered the workforce. In 1966, Roger and his brothers founded Hoffman Brothers and Tritabaugh Construction, operating it until 1976. He continued in the construction industry until his retirement in 2020.

Roger married Twyla on February 3, 1999, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, and together they made their home in New London.

Roger was a social butterfly, often enjoying breakfast with his friends at Westwood Café. He had a passion for collecting tractors and fast cars, and loved attending car shows and threshing events during the summer. Whether on his boat, flying his airplane, joyriding on his tractors, or driving his favorite toys, Roger was always in motion. He and Twyla shared a love of traveling and camping, as well as their nightly golf cart rides to get ice cream treats with their beloved dogs, Rocky and Buddy.

Roger’s family was able to celebrate his 79th birthday with him in the morning before he was called to celebrate his special day with his loved ones in heaven in the afternoon.

Roger is survived by his wife, Twyla; step-son, Shane (Katie) Marquardt; grandsons, Matthew and Evan; sisters, Mildred Hogrefe and Gail (Dan) Vanderpas; sister-in-law, Diane Hoffman; and Twyla’s family, Beverly (Bobby) Plumley, Sheila (Tim) Schafer, Brenda (Ron) Cuchna, and Gail (Matt) Bonnema. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Harley Sr. and Elsie Hoffman; brothers, Ervin Hoffman, Harley Jr., and Gary (Kay) Hoffman; sister-in-law, Marty Hoffman; and brothers-in-law, Eldon Tritabaugh, Charlie Hogrefe, and Kerry Nelson; Twyla’s parents, Oscar and Josephine Nelson.
