Rose Marie Emma (Bartles) Meyer, 90, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, formerly of Willmar, Minnesota, went to her heavenly home on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, surrounded by loving family members.

Her funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar.  Memorials are preferred to the Redeemer Lutheran Church Altar Guild.  Funeral arrangements are with Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Homes.

Rose was born on January 8, 1936, on a farm near Edgerton, Minnesota, to Otto and Martha Bartels. She grew up in Edgerton and Hardwick and graduated from Luverne High School in 1953. It was during high school that she met Eugene "Gene" Meyer, whom she married on September 5, 1959.

As they raised their four children, Rose and Gene made their home in Luverne, Pipestone, and Marshall before settling in Willmar, MN, where they lived for 46 years. In 2023, they moved to Edgewood Assisted Living in Sioux Falls, SD.

Rose worked as an elementary school cook for the Willmar School District while raising her children, a position she enjoyed until her retirement in May 2003.

In her free time, Rose found joy in reading, tending her vegetable and flower gardens, and baking. Her grandchildren were especially blessed by her homemade Special K bars and cinnamon rolls. She also enjoyed sewing, sharing her talents through handmade gifts. One of her special traditions was creating a denim and flannel quilt for each grandchild to celebrate their graduation.

Rose’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She and Gene loved traveling to visit their children and grandchildren, proudly attending as many of their musical performances, sporting events, and theater activities as possible. She treasured welcoming her family home for holidays and special occasions. Honoring her Savior Jesus with her life was most important to Rose. She devoted countless hours to her church through the choir, teaching religion classes, serving on the altar guild, working as financial secretary, participating in the LWML and Bible studies, and serving on many church committees.

She is survived by her children: Sarah (Scott) Sailer of Sioux Falls, SD; Amy Brooks of Berlin, WI; Paul (Elizabeth) Meyer of  Raymond, MN; and Jane (Steve) Thielman of Fargo, ND. grandchildren: Timothy Sailer, Aaron (Lisa) Sailer, Daniel (Lindsey) Sailer, Steven (Melanie) Brooks, Michael Brooks (AJ Edwards), Katherine (Joe) Schaefbauer, Jacob Meyer, Benjamin Thielman, and Nathan Thielman; great-grandchildren: Everly, Hallie, Anna, Henry, Savannah, and Emma; sister-in-law: Dorothy Sherburne; and many nieces and nephews.

Rose will be reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Gene; her parents, Otto and Martha; her parents-in-law, Ralph and Viviene; her son-in-law, Bill; her siblings Alvina, Johanna, Erna, Luella, Verna, Eileen, and Elmer; as well as other cherished family members and friends who preceded her in death.

Rose’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Edgewood Assisted Living in Sioux Falls for the care and kindness they provided during her last years.
