Ruby was born January 16, 1929, in Willmar, the daughter of John and Deta (Van Buren) Knoll. She grew up in Willmar, attended Willmar Junior High and graduated from Willmar High School. She then attended Teacher’s Training in Litchfield, teaching two years in country school. She began a lifelong love for God expressed in music at First Covenant Church beginning in high school. She directed various choirs, teaching many children, played the piano and served as an organist for many years.

She was united in marriage to John Teigland on March 14, 1953 at First Covenant Church. They raised four daughters, Rachel, Jeanne, Lois and Mary. She was most thankful for her children completing their education and went on to serve others. She was especially grateful to God for her children who chose to love God with their musical and artistic abilities. Her love of learning multiplied around her to all who wanted to learn. Her love of artistic endeavors produced quilts, clothes, knitted and crocheted products, handiwork, and many lovely paintings. Her home was always full of children enjoying baked goods, craft projects, games, songs, musical endeavors and all sorts of pets.

Ruby gardened and enjoyed all kinds of vegetables and flowers. From that, all kinds of foods and a love for good recipes emerged. Many children were inspired to continue learning something they had begun to learn in her home.

She is survived by her daughters: Rachel (Dan) Anderson, Jeanne (Mike) Kroeker, Lois (Mark) Lattimore and Mary Abrahamson; six grandchildren: Jon (Jess) Anderson, Mychal (Courtney) Anderson, Katrina (Chris) Bentley, Lauren (Isaac) Damhof, Ian (Lily) Hook, Alex (Kayla) Lattimore; several great grandchildren; and her sister, Marilyn Hanson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, on October 25, 2016, and brother, Albert Knoll.
