Russell Strand, 88, of Belgrade, died Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at his home near Belgrade with family by his side. A visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, October 4, 2021 at the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Gausdal Lutheran Church Cemetery near Belgrade.
Russell Strand was born on April 29, 1933 in Georgeville, the son of Reinhard and Ada (Allen) Strand. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith. He grew up in Belgrade with his nine siblings where he attended Belgrade Elementary. On May 15, 1954, Russell was united in marriage to Marlene Lecher. This union was blessed three sons and two daughters. They made their home near Belgrade where he worked for the railroad, turkey barn operations and as a farmhand for Dale and Arvilla Rosengren.
Russell enjoyed playing cards, dancing with his wife and spending time with his family. He especially loved being a father and grandfather, watching his grandchildren grow.
Russell died on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at his home near Belgrade with family by his side at the age of 88. He is survived by his wife, Marlene of 67 years; children, Larry Strand of Clara City, Roxanne (Mark) Lehnen of Paynesville, Bob Strand (fiancé, Darcie) of Cook and Deborah (Dennis) Taylor; 13 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Russell was preceded in death by his son, Stevie “Cheeta”, daughter-in-law, Thersa; parents; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
