Rusty Morgan Obituary

Carol "Rusty" Morgan, age 72, of Willmar, died Friday, February 19, 2021, at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

Her funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, February 26, at the Church of the Nazarene in Willmar.  A recording of the service will be available on the funeral home website after the service.  Rusty always wore her cowboy hat, so please wear your favorite hat in honor of Rusty.  Visitation for Rusty will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, February 25, at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.  Memorials are preferred to Family Promise of Kandiyohi County.

Carol Irene “Rusty” Morgan was born November 21, 1948, in Pierre, South Dakota, the daughter of Lyle and Caroline (Fife) Morgan.  As a child, her family lived in various parts of South Dakota and she graduated from Rapid City High School in 1967.    In January 1969, she married Raymond Rauenhorst at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City and two children, Karen and Michael, were born to their marriage.  They lived in Rapid City, Cheyenne, WY, and Olivia, MN, before divorcing in 1984.  Rusty later lived in Wyoming, California, and Colorado, until she moved to Willmar, MN in 2003.

Rusty loved being an artist and sharing her artwork with friends and family. She enjoyed teaching children to draw and paint. She volunteered time to teach art at her grandchildren's elementary school, at her church, and with one very dear family.  Rusty would join her family online to paint every Thursday evening. She also enjoyed making cards and going to her card making classes.

Rusty was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Willmar. She loved God, her cowboy hat, and her family. She loved Elvis, anything western, especially John Wayne, and a good joke. Rusty always had orange tic-tac's and diet 7-up with her.  She was happy and kind, and always had a compliment for anyone she met.

She is survived by her children: Karen Rauenhorst (and Tony Whitcomb) of Atwater and Michael Rauenhorst of Lake Lillian; three grandchildren: Lee Whitcomb (and Emma), Maverick Whitcomb (and Amber), and Nicole Whitcomb; her siblings: Bob Robert (and Jan) Morgan of Colstrip, MT, Wanda (and Terry) Rockwell of Susquehanna, PA, DeAnn (and Steven) Yamane of Hurricane, UT, Lila Morgan Bosley of Oxnard, CA, and Earl (and Carol) Morgan of South Bend, IN; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
