Ruth N. Kirckof

Ruth N. Kirckof, 83, of Brooten, died Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.  Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Big Grove Lutheran Church near Belgrade.  Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade. 

Ruth Naomi Kirckof was born on September 26, 1938, in Montgomery, Alabama, the daughter of Robert and Lorraine (Mitchell) Lockett.  She grew up in Oakview, California and attended Ventura High School, graduating in 1956.  On December 19, 1976, Ruth was united in marriage to Clarence Kirckof at Big Grove Lutheran Church.  They made their home north of Brooten where they farmed.  They later retired from farming and moved into Brooten where Ruth worked for Reinings.  They were able to share in 35 years of marriage before Clarence’s death on June 24, 2012. 

Ruth was a member of Big Grove Lutheran Church and served in circle, bible study, taught Sunday School and quilted.  She enjoyed playing cards, visiting with family and friends, sewing, painting ceramics, making cards and crafts.

Ruth  is survived by children, Matt (Luan) Fisher, Kathy (Dawn) Jacobson, Janice (Dean Sorby, Ruthie (Jim) Welte and Kelly Kirckof; 28 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and siblings, Frances Fraser and Charles (Dori) Lockett.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; daughter, Debbie Detloff;  parents and siblings, Dorothy Olmsted and Roberta Buckler.
