Ryan Thompson, 49, passed away on December 17, 2025, at Cura Care in Willmar. Friends and family are invited to a casual celebration of Ryan’s life on Saturday, May 16, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Barn Theater in Willmar to share memories and laughter in his honor. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home in Willmar. www.hafh.org
Ryan was born on July 21, 1976, in Willmar to David and Shannon Thompson. He grew up in New London before his family later settled in Lakeville. He built a career in logistics, where coworkers knew him for his hard work and easy sense of fun.
In 2011, Ryan married Katie Trussell. Together, they shared six children and made a home in Prior Lake before moving the family back to Willmar in 2016. Ryan loved building a life full of laughter, love, and family.
Ryan loved the simple things — a sunny day on the golf course, a quiet day of fishing, cheering on the Vikings or cooking for his family. He had a way of making people laugh, and he never missed a chance to bring a smile to someone’s face. His children were his greatest joy and the center of his world, and he welcomed their friends just as warmly, making sure everyone felt like they belonged.
Ryan is survived by his father, David Thompson; stepmother, Laurie Thompson; mother, Shannon Thompson; brothers, Neal Thompson and Derek Thompson; his wife, Katie Thompson; and his children: Katelynn Moore, Michaela Moore, Brooke Thompson, Andrew Thompson, Savanna Thompson, and Scarlet Thompson.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by everyone who knew him.
