Sandra Lee Halvorson

Sandra Lee Halvorson 69, of Willmar, died Sunday, January 9, 2022, at her home in Willmar.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Services are entrusted to Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

Sandy died quietly at home with her friend Naomi and staff nearby.  She was 69.  She would not have lived as long as she did without the kindness and patience of her many caregivers.  Especially Maria and Melanie who helped Sandy recover her personality after her last illness.   We thank them so much.

Sandy’s life was punctuated by severe seizures of unknown cause.  Each one required a lengthy recovery and left some brain damage.

Still, her life had many happy moments.  She loved shopping, crafts, eating out, dressing in coordinated outfits, Daybreak at Bethesda, seeing friends, community events, visiting family, Bible camp, and being with people.

For most of her life she lived with her parents:  growing up in Park Rapids, where her father was a forest ranger, moving to Cambridge, MN where she graduated from high school in 1971, living in New London when her parents retired. She lived in a group home in Hancock and moved to Willmar in 2004 living in Devine House homes.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Betty Halvorson, and her brother, Glenn.  She is survived by her sister-in-law, Nancy Halvorson; niece, Anna Halvorson; nephew, Theo Halvorson, his wife Auralie Haven, and many cousins.
