Scott Lindstrand Obituary

Scott Franklin Lindstrand, age 62, of Kandiyohi, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, at St. Cloud Hospital, following a courageous 16-month battle with cancer.

A memorial service to honor Scott’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Kandiyohi, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.  The service will be streamed at https://www.facebook.com/ebenezerlutheranmn/.

Scott was born on December 31, 1962, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, to Franklin and Carol (Howe) Lindstrand. He grew up in Gibbon before moving with his family to Willmar, where he attended school. On March 7, 1983, Scott married Cinderella “Cindy” Peterson in Milbank, South Dakota, and together they built a life in Willmar. In November 1990, they moved to their home in Kandiyohi.

From a young age, Scott was a hard worker. He began his career before he even had a driver’s license, biking to Rohner’s Auto Parts. Later, he worked at Towmaster and CMF before joining Deering’s Sales and Service in 1991. He worked there until he retired in October 2023 due to health complications stemming from his battle with cancer and ALS.

A passionate Minnesota Vikings fan, Scott was also an avid bowler, participating in a mixed league at the KEC for many years alongside his wife, Cindy. He loved traveling with his family, camping, and planning his next adventure. Scott was also a dedicated fan of car races, often running the tow truck at local races for many years.  He often played cards, games and was a master of trivia.

Known for his sarcastic sense of humor, Scott had an incredible ability to fix anything and will be remembered for his warm heart and willingness to help anyone in need. He showed his love in the many ways he helped, teasing his children and grandchildren, and doing whatever he could to help his friends. He thrived in being "Papa" to all his grandchildren.  He was deeply loved by his family and friends.

Scott is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cindy; children, Krista (Aaron) Peterson, Mark (Kayla) Lindstrand, Larry Garvick, Christopher Garvick, Randy (Emily) Garvick, Anna Garvick, and Faith Garvick; grandchildren, Tara (Joseph), Johnathon, Wyatt, Hayden, Owen, Annika, Luke, Aurora, Caleb, Emmalyn, Trinity, Levi, Brian, Gretchen, Charles, Everleigh, and Holly; and great-granddaughter, Ember. He is also survived by his siblings, Vicki (Sam) Lester, Cindy (Dave) Kinnear, Kevin Lindstrand, and Lori (Jeff) Johnson; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Carol Lindstrand; his in-laws, Albert and Alice Peterson; and his siblings-in-law, Terry and Darlene.
