Sharon Kay Becker was born June 19, 1946, in Pipestone, Minnesota, the daughter of Joe and Dorothy (Verdoes) Becker. She grew up on a farm between Holland and Ruthton, was baptized at Holland Christian Reformed Church, and graduated from Ruthton High School in 1965.
On June 3, 1966, Sharon was united in marriage to Kenneth Blom at Holland Christian Reformed Church. They made their home in Raymond, where they raised their two children, Lacinda “Cindy” and Joel. Sharon worked as a home health aide and later as a nurse’s aide at the Clara City Care Center until retiring in 2000 due to health concerns. She also sold Avon products for many years.
Sharon was a member of the Raymond Christian Reformed Church, where she professed her faith. She was active in the Raymond Garden Club, the Clara City American Legion Auxiliary, and the Clara City Care Center Auxiliary. Sharon especially enjoyed gardening—both vegetables and flowers—and maintained a large garden. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends, working on puzzles, attending garage sales, watching birds, embroidery, and collecting an extensive collection of salt and pepper shakers.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Blom; her son, Joel (Beth) Blom of Chaska; her son-in-law, Bob (Amy) Mithun of Clara City; four grandchildren, Shealee Mithun, Alexa Mithun, Grady Blom, and Greta Blom; and two great-grandchildren, Gauge and Leland. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Lenny Becker of Garvin and Lynnetta (Jerry) Groen of New London; her brother-in-law, Gordon (Elaine) Blom of Raymond; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Cindy, in 2019; and her brother, Marvin, in 2014.
