Sharon Ann (Bonnema) (Sharkey) Arndt

Sharon Ann (Sharkey) Arndt, 81, of Willmar, died Friday, November 19th at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.  Her funeral will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, November 24th at Church of the Nazarene in Willmar with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be in Holland Township Cemetery, rural Prinsburg.  Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.  Funeral arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. www.hafh.org

Sharon was born February 13, 1940, in Prinsburg, the daughter of Henry and Arline (Plowman) Bonnema and was later adopted by Henry Mulder.  She attended Central Minnesota Christian School in Prinsubrg and eventually earned her AA Degree. 

On February 13, 1960, she was united in marriage Laurence “Larry” Sharkey at her parent’s home.  They lived and farmed in the Clarkfield area with Larry’s father before moving to the Prinsburg/Raymond area where they farmed.  While living near Clarkfield, Sharon worked at the Montevideo Hospital besides helping on the farm and raising their children.  After moving to their farm near Prinsburg, she worked for over 10 years at Kmart and was heavily involved with Boy Scouts where she was a den mother and eventually the District Secretary for many years.  As the children grew older, she found a passion for repairing dolls and became the area doll doctor.  Over the years, she enjoyed bowling and was an avid square dancer. She also enjoyed playing the organ and often times played for the churches she was involved with.  Sharon also enjoyed attending Bible studies and visiting shut-ins.  After Larry passed away, she was united in marriage to Lowell Arndt on July 5, 2009.  

Surviving are her husband, Lowell of Willmar; children: Michael (Phyllis) Sharkey, David Sharkey, Farah Vogt and Lance Sharkey; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  Also surviving are her siblings: Clifford Mulder, Esther Dykstra, Maxine Denke, Gerald (Ginny) Mulder, Roxanne Marcus and Viola (Glenn) Destigter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Larry.
