Shirley (Rudenick) Froehlich

Shirley Froehlich, 90, of Murdock, died Friday, March 21 at CentraCare-Rice Hospital in Willmar. Her funeral service will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 25 at Bethesda Lutheran in Murdock. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home in Willmar. www.hafh.org

Shirley Rudenick was born on April 1, 1934, to Carl and Minnie (Dommer) Rudenick in Vail Township. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Seaforth, MN. She graduated from Wabasso High School in 1952. Following her high school years, Shirley worked at Butler Brothers in Minneapolis and the Parkway Hotel in Redwood Falls, before dedicating herself to being a homemaker. On June 6, 1953, she married Roland Froehlich at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Seaforth. The couple farmed near Seaforth for three years before relocating to Redwood Falls, where they continued farming for nine years. They then spent another nine years farming near Clements. In 1974, Shirley and Roland settled in Murdock, where Shirley continued her role as a homemaker. Together, they were blessed with six children.

Shirley had a deep love for nature, enjoying gardening both vegetables and flowers, as well as birdwatching. She also enjoyed doing word search puzzles, reading the Bible daily, and, above all, cherished spending time with her family.

Shirley is survived by her children: Leroy (Cheryl) Froehlich of Murdock, Cindy (Robert) Olson of Murdock, Ann (Rick) Black of Sunburg, Sandy Jensen of Kerkhoven, Dave Froehlich of Murdock, and Cari (Jeff) Stager of Clara City. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren: Mike (Candice) Olson, Steve Olson, Wayne Olson, Tom (Darcy) Froehlich, Kris (Josh) Wagner, Jon (Karen) Froehlich, Becky (Jeremy) Schafer, Issac (Maddie) Froehlich, Onna (Mark) Overlie, Adam Froehlich, Brittney (Jordan Brutger) Stager, Austin Stager, and Sam Stager; along with 17 great-grandchildren: Luke, Teagan, Cole, Shane, Maddie, Abbie, and Allie Froehlich, Carter Novak, Emmy and Leah Wagner, Kinsley, Kasen, Kaleb Schafer, Kassie Olson, Gabriel, Emma, and Ellie Overlie. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law: Mary Rudenick of Wabasso, and Lorraine Froehlich of Eagle Bend.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Roland; her parents; son-in-law, Garth Jensen; and great-granddaughter, Lauren Olson. She was also preceded by her siblings: Bernice (Clarence) Goedert, Lawrence (Myrt) Rudenick, Norman (Elaine) Rudenick, Leroy Rudenick, Lorraine (John) Coulter, Darlene (Robert) Pratt, and Russell Rudenick.
