Steven Larsen Obituary

Steven Ross Larsen, 78, formerly of Grove City, died Wednesday, March 26th at his home in Willmar. His funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Friday, April 4th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City. Visitation will be from 9:30 until the time of service on Friday. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Grove City. Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association. Steven Ross Larsen was born March 27, 1946, to Gale and Leone (Berglund) Larsen in Litchfield. He was baptized and later confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grove City. Steve attended school at Grove City High School and graduated in 1964. While in high school, he enjoyed playing sports. One of his proudest achievements was receiving the  WCCO All State Football Team.

On June 18, 1965, Steve was united in marriage to Diane Dilley at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Steve purchased Leonard Hoepner’s trucking company and started Larsen Trucking, where he hauled freight and livestock. In 1987, Steve sold his trucking company and continued his truck driving career while living in Monticello, Brooklyn Park, and later to Blaine. During this time Steve worked for CemStone Concrete Products where he was a Top Ten Driver every year. In 2009, he retired and they moved to the Spicer area. They wintered in Mission, Texas for many years and since 2021 they have lived in Willmar. Steve loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed going to We Fest, Winstock, family camping trips, fishing at Lake of the Woods and traveling to Hawaii and Las Vegas. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and friend.


Steve is survived by his wife, Diane; children: Brett (Annette) Larsen of Fargo, Christine (Roger) Larson of Grove City, Chad (Melissa) Larsen of New London; grandchildren: Ashley (Bryan) Hanson, Lauren (Ben) Hentges, Brandon Larsen, Megan (Randy) Futhey, Tyler (Elaina) Larson, Alec Larsen and Adison Larsen; Hailey Sheppard, Holdyn Sheppard and Alaynah Harkless; 13 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Robert (Sharon) Larsen, Dianne Lankey, and Cork Bosch.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law, Les Bosch and LaVerne Dilley; nephew, Troy Bosch, and great-grandson, Graham Hentges.
