Sylvia M. Sanborn, 72 of Paynesville, died peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Cloud. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2026 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Roscoe. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial are preferred. Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville. www.hafh.org
Sylvia Margaret Sanborn was born on March 17, 1953 in Alexandra, the daughter of Mathias and Clara (Thoennes) Hockert. She grew up on a farm near Millerville and attended Brandon High School graduating in 1971. She continued her education at Alexandria Technical School for interior design. On June 21, 1975, Sylvia was united in marriage to Mark Sanborn. This union was blessed with four sons. They moved the Paynesville area in 1986 where she raised her four sons and worked in retail sales throughout the area.
Sylvia was a faithful member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Roscoe. She enjoyed volunteering for her church, gardening, mowing lawn, watching sports and her animals through the years, especially her dogs and chickens. Her family recall her deep faith, acts of kindness and selflessness to others, great sense of humor and her ability to make friends wherever she was.
Sylvia died peacefully on March 15, 2026 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House at the age of 72. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Mark; sons, Mat Sanborn, Jon Sanborn, Karl (Cara) Sanborn and Bob Sanborn; 10 grandchildren and siblings, Audrey Boll, Ron Hockert and Keith Hockert. She was preceded in death by her parents.
