Trent David Nelson

Trent David Nelson, 59, of Sunburg, died Saturday, February 28 at his home. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home in Willmar.

Trent Nelson was born on November 27, 1966, to David and Pamela (Tande) Nelson in Willmar. He was baptized and confirmed at East Norway Lake Lutheran Church. Trent grew up on the family farm near Sunburg and graduated from Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg High School in 1985. He later attended Willmar Vo-Tech, studying Farm Management.

On September 10, 1988, Trent married Jennifer Stockland at East Norway Lake Lutheran Church. They were blessed with two sons, Joshua and Jonah, and made their home on a farm near Sunburg. Farming was the steady foundation of Trent’s life for more than 38 years. He valued the work, the land, and especially the opportunity to have his boys working alongside him.

Trent remained active at East Norway Lake Lutheran Church where he served on the council and as an usher. He was also a dedicated member of the Sunburg Fire Department for nearly 28 years. He enjoyed road trips, time with family and friends, visiting seed customers, and giving his grandchildren tractor rides.

Trent is survived by his wife, Jennifer of Sunburg; his children, Joshua (Heidi) Nelson of Murdock and Jonah (Bethany) Nelson of Murdock; six grandchildren: Haley, Wyatt, Elizabeth, James, Waylon, and John; his parents, David and Pamela; and his sisters, Kristen (Ron) Rosenboom of Sunburg and Sarah (Jeff) Linn of Spicer.
