Vermayne Vernis Larson was born on April 16, 1930, to Rudolph and Laura (Busse) Paetznick on the family farm near Paynesville. From a young age, she learned the value of hard work, helping with daily chores—milking cows, raising chickens and rabbits. She attended District 20 School in Paynesville, and after completing her schooling, she dedicated herself full time to working on the family farm.
On March 5, 1958, Vermayne was united in marriage to Clifford Larson at Lebanon Lutheran Church in New London. Together they made their home on the Larson farm in rural New London, where they raised their children: Lorraine, Wendell, Margaret, and Laverne. Vermayne and Clifford took pride in raising their family in a farm setting, teaching their children responsibility and the rewards of a strong work ethic.
Vermayne found joy in sharing her talents with others. A gifted baker, she lovingly made hundreds of cakes for weddings, baptisms, confirmations, and graduations. She also spent countless hours sewing weighted blankets for special needs children, and she took pride in gardening and selling her vegetables at the farmers market. Her generosity, creativity, and unwavering dedication to her family and community will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Vermayne is survived by her children: Lorraine (Byron) Boike of Willmar, the late Wendell (Lora) Larson of Belgrade, Margaret Knisley of New London and Laverne (Claudette) Larson on New London; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; son, Wendell Larson; grandson, Dain Knisley; brother, Mel Paetznick; and nephew: Vernon Paetznick.
