Vernon Charles Nistler was born on June 27, 1953, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, to Clarence and Rosella (Loch) Nistler. He grew up in Eden Valley, where he attended Assumption Catholic Elementary School and later graduated from Eden Valley/Watkins High School in 1971.
