Vivian Marcus Obituary

Vivian Marcus, 88, of Willmar, died Wednesday, April 19th at Bethesda Grand in Willmar. Her memorial service will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 22nd at Rock of Life CRC in Willmar. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm, Friday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and continue one hour prior to her service. Interment will be 9:00 am, Saturday at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Memorials are preferred to Rock of Life CRC, Building Fund. www.hafh.org

Vivian Viola Marcus was born October 23, 1934, to Frank and Edith (Bengtson) Steinhilber in Minneapolis. They lived in Redwood Falls briefly before making their home in Willmar. Vivian attended school in Willmar. On March 19, 1954, Vivian was united in marriage to Stanley Marcus at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. She started working at Bethesda and also babysat and did housework. After a few years of marriage, Stan and his brothers, purchased Marcus Well Co. from their father and Vivian helped answer phones and other various tasks there. She was active in the Friendship program at the church, where she volunteered for many years and also Senior Bible Study. Vivian was known for her baking, especially her pies and decorative cookies. She enjoyed hosting family holidays, spending time with her family, putting puzzles together with Stan, and playing cards and dominos. Vivian also enjoyed needle point and painting dish towels. She gave many sets to her daughter and daughters-in-law. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma and friend.

Vivian is survived by her children: David (and Verdelle) Marcus, Curtis (and Jodi) Marcus, Melanie (Corey) Pavelko; daughter-in-law, Anna Marcus all of Willmar; seven grandchildren: Andrea (and David) Weflen, Alyssa Marcus, Amanda (and Richard) Galloway, Joseph (and Alexis) Pavelko, Abby Marcus, Alex Marcus and Alexi Marcus; great-grandchildren: Decker and Maverick Weflen and one on the way, Xena Marcus, Lilla and Bubba Galloway, Mila and Samuel Pavelko; nephew: Roger (and Barb) Bengtson; and niece, Elaine (and Dale) Wick.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stan; son, Alan; parents, and her siblings.
