Vivian Lee Reiners was born May 16, 1947, in Willmar, to Ronald and Laura (Klinghagen) Reiners. She grew up on her parents’ farm near Clara City, where she learned the value of hard work at an early age, helping with farm chores and milking cows. Vivian was baptized on June 29, 1947, and later confirmed at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. She attended school in Clara City and graduated with the Class of 1968.
Vivian briefly worked for the Clara City Herald, but her greatest calling in life was caring for the people she loved. She devoted much of her time to caring for others, including her grandmother, Elizabeth Klinghagen, and later her father following the death of her mother.
She was also deeply involved in her community. Vivian volunteered for many years at the Clara City Library for 20 years and with Prairie Five Senior Nutrition. She was a dedicated member of the Women’s Auxiliary for 50 years, giving her time and friendship to an organization that meant so much to her. She also crocheted prayer shawl for the church for many years.
Vivian had a special gift for making people feel welcome and cared for. During her time at the nursing home, she jokingly considered herself part of the “welcoming committee,” greeting others and helping them feel at home. She loved making cards for family, friends, and nursing home staff. Whether it was a birthday, Easter, Christmas, or another special occasion, Vivian always took the time to create something thoughtful and personal. These small acts of kindness were a reflection of the love she carried for others. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Vivian is survived by her sisters: Betty Wieber of Madison, and Maxine (Don) Hauptli of Belgrade; nephew, Alvin (Shannon) Wieber; and nieces: Lori (Scott) Larson and Jill (Patrick) Forcier, as well as other friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother-in-law, John Wieber.
